Art Unites: Racial Harmony Art Exhibition 2024

I

n 2024, I had the privilege of participating in the Art Unites: Racial Harmony Art Exhibition, held at the Katong CC Multipurpose Hall. Curated by the talented Manisha Sarkar, this exhibition explored the theme of racial harmony, a core value that has shaped Singapore’s identity. It was an incredible experience to be part of such an impactful exhibition that celebrated the diversity and unity that make Singapore a unique and vibrant nation.

Celebrating Racial Harmony through Art

The Art Unites exhibition aimed to bring together artists from different backgrounds to reflect on the importance of racial harmony in our multicultural society. The artworks presented were deeply moving, showcasing how art can be a powerful tool to foster understanding and unity. Through paintings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces, the exhibition highlighted the shared values, struggles, and aspirations that bind us together as one people.

Curator’s Vision

Under the expert curation of Manisha Sarkar, the exhibition thoughtfully brought out the themes of tolerance, mutual respect, and collective progress. Manisha’s approach allowed for an inclusive space where artists could express their own personal experiences while contributing to the larger dialogue of racial harmony.

My Contribution to the Exhibition

I was honored to contribute my own work to this significant exhibition. My piece aimed to capture the beauty of cultural diversity and the spirit of togetherness in Singapore. Through vibrant colors and intricate details, I explored the different elements of Singapore’s multicultural heritage, bringing attention to the shared values that unite us, despite our differences. The painting aimed to highlight the importance of embracing diversity and promoting understanding among different communities.

A Special Moment

A memorable moment of the exhibition was having Mr. Lim Biow Chuan, Advisor to the Mountbatten Grassroots Organization, appreciate my artwork. His kind words regarding my painting, which celebrated Racial Harmony Day 2014, meant a lot to me. His support further reinforced the idea that art has the power to bring people together and foster a greater sense of unity within our society.
